Welcome to the new website! Everything on this site should be up-to-date and accurate!
We are a team of Nordic skiers composed of members of all ability levels. We practice together three nights a week during the winter season, and travel to ski races throughout the Midwest from January to March. Races include the Noquemanon in Marquette, MI; the American Birkebeiner in Hayward, WI; and the Great Bear Chase in Calumet, MI. Members sign up individually for races they want to ski, and then the team provides lodging, meals, and transportation for the weekend. Races are a great way to get out and ski during the winter, and socialize with your fellow team members! Races range from 10k to 56k, classic or freestyle techniques. Members are not required to have a certain ability level or racing experience to join the team; practices and races are as difficult or competitive as the individual chooses to make them!
During the fall, the team has dryland practices from 6-7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Practices continue until the end of the Fall Semester. Over Winter Break, the team travels to Cable, WI to ski the Birkebiener Trails for Training Weekend.
Once Spring Semester starts, the team practices every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m. The Nordic Ski Team travels to Elver Park on the west side of Madison for winter practices. Transportation is provided to practices.
Team members are required to pay the $45 Hoofer fee, and then team dues as well. Members that just want to practice pay dues of $100, while racing members pay $200 in dues. Dues go towards transportation to practices and races, lodging, and food for training weekend and race weekends.

Freestyle is snowboarding or skiing typically in the terrain park. The Freestyle Team works particularly in the superpipe and regular pipe, as well as on kickers, rails, boxes, and other fun terrain stuff the hills may have to offer. The main idea is that as a member of the Freestyle Team, you will ski or ride with a great bunch of people who are as excited about skiing or riding as you are.
We typically start our trips second semester. We go to Tyrol Basin three times a week - Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. Being on the Freestyle Team gives you discounted lift ticket prices to Tyrol as well as transportation to and from the hill.

The Hoofers Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team is a group of UW students who compete in the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA).
This is a downhill race team; however, many of our members had never raced before joining. Our wide range of skiing and snowboarding abilities creates a unique dynamic and fosters an awesome time on and off the hill. We host drylands practices Tuesdays and Thursdays in the fall semester along with many social events. This fall semester we are having a fall formal, team bonfires at picnic point, an Alpine vs. Nordic ultimate frisbee game, an ice skating event, and many more spontaneous gatherings along the way. We race six weekends all over the Midwest during the second semester, beginning the first weekend in January and going through mid-February. Hopefully our boys and girls teams will qualify for nationals again this year, which is held in the beginning of March. At a typical race, we compete against other colleges in the Midwest, including the University of Minnesota, Marquette University, Michigan State, Iowa State, and many more. This team is a great way to not only meet 50-60 other kids on the UW-Madison campus, but to also meet racers on other college teams.
- Dryland Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Team Bonfires: TBD
- Alpine vs. Nordic Ultimate Frisbee: Friday, Oct. 13
- Ice Skating: Thursday, Oct. 19
- Fall Formal: Friday, Nov. 3
