MIKE RUGNETTA'S PLATFORM- VP FINANCE CANDIDATE
As a member of the Executive Board this past year, I have had great exposure to the clubs finances and it has helped me form the following goals for next year:
-Increase subsidies for Teams, Trips, and Backcountry
-Continue/increase funding for weekday and weekend trips
-Discount rentals for All Campus Free Night
-Continue to pursue outside funding to help reduce the cost of the club
-Start an accessibility program for persons with disabilities
-Continue funding awesome events like Rail Jam
-Add more promotional items to kickoff and events
-Promote a positive image of The Ski and Snowboard Club
The financial prosperity of the Hoofer Ski and Snowboard club is very important to me. My goals and passion for the club will allow members to enjoy the sport they love at a low cost. My experience in the Hoofer Ski and Snowboard Club will enable me to perform the duties of the VP Finance position.
I have been a member of the Club for two years, been on club trips, and currently hold the Executive Board position of Assistant Resale Director. I have been a member of the Alpine team for two years. Being on a team in the Ski and Snowboard club my freshman year made me aware of how much work goes into organizing events and running such a large club. The experience I had in Hoofers my freshman year made me want to get more involved with the club. This year I worked on coordinating volunteers for Resale, as one of the assistant directors of the event. As a member of the Executive Board, I have learned a lot about the club’s budget. I have also worked with both Ricky Frommgen (this years VP Finance) and Lisa Daniels (this years President) on next years budget. I presented the 2011-2012 budget to the Hoofer Council with Lisa and will be presenting with her again to the Memorial Union.
This past year in the club I have been able to set my own financial related goals for the Hoofer Ski and Snowboard Club. This year our club had three big trips, which is something that I would like to continue to do in the future. By increasing subsidies to trips, I believe we would be able to send out our third trip again next year. I also would like to increase subsides to teams to keep the financial burden of the students lower and allow more to participate. The Backcountry program is also an area that I believe with more funding could become a larger part of the club. Continuing discounts and subsides to keep costs lower for students is a great way to market the club. By offering low cost activities we will be able to increase our member base. I will also ensure that the club will be able to continue to put on awesome events like Rail Jam and the All Campus Free Night. I would also like to start an accessibility program for persons with disabilities. This program would be available for those who want to enjoy skiing but couldn’t normally be exposed to the opportunity. I am committed to searching for additional funding throughout the year to keep providing these subsidies.
My goals and experience from this year definitely flow into the VP Finance position. Along with all of these goals comes my responsibility and desire to positively represent the Ski and Snowboard Club. I believe that I am the best candidate for this position.
